National News: Although Operation Sindoor has been postponed in Jammu and Kashmir, the decisive attack of Indian security forces continues against terrorism in the valley. On Thursday, security forces killed three terrorists, including Jaish-e-Mohammed's top commander Asif Ahmed Sheikh, in an encounter in Tral in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
This is the second major operation against terrorists in the last three days. Earlier on Tuesday, three Lashkar terrorists were killed in Keller area of Shopian. A total of six terrorists were killed in both the campaigns, indicating strategic edge of security forces.
Three terrorists killed during an encounter in Nadir village of Tral have been identified as Jish-e-Mohammed's Swayambhu District Commander Asif Ahmed Sheikh, and his two companions Aamir Nazir Wani and Yawar Ahmed Butt.
The security forces laid siege to the Tral region on the basis of secret information about the hiding of these terrorists and carried out the operation by targeting the house including the shed. The house collapsed completely during the encounter.
Major General Dhananjay Joshi, GOC of Victor Force, said in a press conference:
"We conducted two major operations in Shopian and Tral. This success was possible due to the close coordination of Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police."
IGP Kashmir VK Birdi said, In the last 48 hours, our soldiers killed six terrorists in two successful operations. Our aim is not just encounters but to destroy the entire ecosystem of terror."Operation Keller: Terrorists were given a chance to surrender, but they did not lay down their arms
On Tuesday, three Lashkar terrorists were surrounded and killed in the Keller area of Shopian district. According to the IGP, "We gave them full opportunity to surrender, but they started firing."
It is clear from the continuous encounters that the security forces have intensified the campaign to eradicate terrorism in the valley. Operation Sindoor may have been stopped for some time for strategic reasons, but it is clear that no terrorist organization is now safe in Kashmir.
